Are Cloud storage services responsible for large-scale copyright infringements?
Megalupload met a spectacular end at the beginning of 2012; Hotfile was recently found guilty of aiding and abetting copyright infringements (U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, 1:11-cv-20427). On the other hand – at a first glance – other services such as iCloud, Microsoft Skydrive or Dropbox do not seem to be used for copyright infringements. So what can storage services generally do to prevent a misuse of their services? In this respect, we are looking forward to an exciting discussion at the “Copyright and Technology Conference 2013” which takes place next Thursday in London. Attorney Raimer will be a guest speaker.
